George Dress
2022-2023 STATE VICE PRESIDENT
Hometown: Kennewick, WA
Favorite Food: Steak Fun Fact: I have shown steers for 7 years!
George Dress grew up spending most of his time in his family’s retail farm store business where he learned at an early age how to talk to people. He has always been a very generous, kind, and hardworking kid. George also developed a passion for livestock, agriculture, and leadership. He showed steers in 4-H for several years as well as served as President of his 4-H club, and as class president in middle school. George learned about FFA from his mom and several uncles who wore the blue jacket. It was a natural fit for him as he entered high school.
Dress was elected to the 2022–2023 state FFA officer team as Vice President at the 92nd Washington FFA Convention.
From Kennewick, Dress was District 4 FFA Sentinel in 2020-2021, as well as President in 2021-2022. He also served as the Kamiakin FFA Sentinel from 2018-2019, and President from 2019-2022. In high school, he was still active in the National Honor Society and 4-H.
While in FFA, Dress raised and showed cattle at 3 local fairs for one of his supervised agricultural experiences. His time spent showing steers before joining FFA made it a great project to continue for his SAE. He also had a second SAE, and that was working at his family’s farm store. He gained a variety of skills including customer service, cashiering, and helping to buy products for resale. After his year serving as Vice President, George plans on attending Texas A & M to obtain an Agribusiness degree.
“FFA has made me the person I am today as well as opened the door for endless opportunities. I wanted to serve as a State Officer because I knew I wanted to give back to this amazing organization, as well as helping to advocate for Agriculture in Washington. I also want to help others succeed in FFA and be able to watch them grow within the organization, because there are so many opportunities for everyone, and they will gain skills and knowledge that will help them in their futures beyond FFA”.
